Local gets top camp honor

The San Diego Chargers, some of the top college football coaches, and Football America teamed up and put on one of the most intense football training camp recently. Kids from all over the United States strapped on their pads and helmets and attended the week long-three a day training session at San Diego State University.

Damon Smith,10, from Kingsburg recently came back from camp with the highest honor available, Camp Most Valuable Player and Lorenzo Neal award. Smith dominated over players twice his size catching the eye of former Charger Neal and many of the college coaches at camp. Smith stood out above 88 other 8-10 year olds to receive this highly valuable award.

Damon will be a third year Kingsburg Pee Wee Lion this year and hopes to dominate the field on game day like he did at camp this year.
