Five year old Alyssa Zenteno of Kingsburg was killed in a car accident on Wednesday, June 20 just before 9:45 p.m.
That night, Zenteno was one of six people in a red Ford Aerostar.
The driver, Moises Soria of Kingsburg, was traveling southbound on Zetiker Avenue, approaching Mountain View Avenue when he failed to stop at the stop sign.
He was then hit on the right side by on oncoming gray Toyota Avalon, causing his van to overturn. As the Aerostar overturned from the impact, an adult flew out of the van and sustained major injuries.
The driver of the Avalon, a Dinuba resident, had been wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries.
Unfortunately, the five passengers in Soria's Aerostar were not as lucky. Though Soria had his seat belt on and only sustained minor injuries, the others didn't.
Out of the five, three had major injuries, one moderate, and five year old Zenteno died.
Besides five-year-old Zenteno, there were two other minors who were without the proper safety equipment. The two-year-old and the five-year-old had been in car seats, but they had been improperly restrained. A 13 year old wasn't protected at all, neither were the two other adults, ages 22 and 57.
Zenteno was the only one to die out of the seven, and was announced dead shortly after she arrived at Selma Community Hospital.
